Cleaning your Thermador dishwasher’s filter is the highest-value maintenance task you can do yourself — it takes about five minutes and prevents the majority of drainage-related service calls, including E2 and, left unresolved long enough, E24.
Step 1: Locate the Filter
Remove the lower dish rack and look at the bottom of the tub for the round, twist-out filter assembly.
Step 2: Remove and Rinse
Twist counter-clockwise and lift it out. Rinse both the coarse and fine filter sections under running water with a soft brush.
Step 3: Check the Pump Cover
With the filter removed, confirm the drain pump cover in the lower-left of the tub is fully seated and hasn’t come loose.
Step 4: Reinstall Correctly
Reinsert the filter and twist it fully back into the locked position — an improperly seated filter can itself cause wash-performance issues.
