What E Means
Thermador's own documentation describes any "E" followed by a number on a range display as a general error/error code. It doesn't publish one universal meaning per number that applies the same way across every range model, so the exact cause depends on the specific number and model together.
Common Causes of E
- A control-board problem flagged during normal operation or a self-check
- A sensor or wiring issue tied to a specific range function
- A problem carried over from a recent power interruption
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press the TIMERS key, or any other key, to stop the beeping alert, then reset the oven side of the range if needed. Write down the exact code shown before resetting.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Thermador itself doesn't publish a single meaning for every numbered "E" code, so opening the range to guess at a part risks working on the wrong part.
- Range control boards sit close to both line-voltage wiring and, on gas models, the gas supply — not a reasonable DIY access point.
- Thermador's own guidance is to call support if the code returns after a reset, not to keep resetting indefinitely.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
