Thermador Range

Thermador PRD486WDGU

Model # PRD486WDGU

The PRD486WDGU pairs a 48-inch commercial-depth cooktop – two open gas burners and a non-stick griddle – with two separate electric oven cavities: a larger 3 cu ft primary oven and a smaller 1.3 cu ft secondary oven on the left. Because it combines a gas cooktop with two independent electric ovens, a service call has to start by isolating which system is actually affected – griddle, one of the two burners, the primary oven, or the secondary oven – since a problem on one rarely explains a sign on another.

Both ovens have their own Self Clean cycle and their own 3-level telescopic rack set, so ‘the self-clean didn’t finish’ needs to specify which cavity before troubleshooting the door lock, temperature sensor, or control board for that specific oven. If the griddle or a burner won’t light and there’s any smell of gas, shutting off the gas supply to the range comes first, before any other troubleshooting step.

FAQ

Thermador PRD486WDGU FAQ

The secondary oven is on the left side and is smaller (1.3 cu ft) than the primary oven (3 cu ft), each with its own controls and its own set of cooking modes, so start by confirming which cavity shows the sign rather than assuming both share a cause.

Yes - it's part of the same two-burner gas cooktop, not a separate electric surface, so a griddle that won't heat is diagnosed the same way as a burner ignition issue.
