What F5 Means
Documented on both platforms as hot cookware detected too close to the control panel. Thermador describes two variants: a flashing power-level display (electronics at risk of overheating, zone still running) and a signal tone with the zone switched off entirely.
Common Causes of F5
- A pot or pan placed too close to, or overlapping, the control strip
- Oversized cookware on a zone near the control panel
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Move the cookware away from the control-panel edge. For the tone/zone-off variant, wait briefly, then touch a control element to resume.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- This is a documented safety feature, not an error to work around — repeatedly placing cookware over the control panel risks real heat damage to the electronics over time.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
