What E02 Means
Not published by Thermador. Independent repair references agree that E02 is the freezer-side counterpart of E01: the freezer compartment sensor is out of range or not being read. On Freedom setups it shows on the freezer column itself.
Common Causes of E02
- Freezer compartment sensor open or shorted
- Ice or moisture at the sensor plug
- Wiring damage near the sensor
- Control board problem
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reset power at the breaker for a few minutes. If the code comes back, keep the freezer closed and check a thermometer in the compartment after a couple of hours.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor sits behind the freezer liner or evaporator cover; reaching it without cracking panels, and confirming the reading, is technician work.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
