Ignition Faults Are Most Common
An igniter that’s dirty, wet, or worn is the most frequent cause, and shows as an E1 error code on models with a display. Cleaning the igniter and burner cap resolves a meaningful share of these on its own.
When It’s a Gas Valve Shutoff
If clicking continues without resolving, the range’s safety system may shut off the valve entirely, showing as E2. This needs a technician — don’t keep attempting to relight it.
