The CGX365 was a 36-inch dual-fuel cooktop that combined Thermador gas burners – including ExtraLow-rated burners down to roughly 300 BTU/HR – with electric radiant elements on the same glass ceramic surface, a design Thermador no longer offers in its current lineup. It shared a Care and Use / Installation manual with the all-electric CD365 and CD456 models.
Repairing this cooktop means treating it as two appliances sharing one surface: gas-side issues (igniter fouling, burner cap seating, valve wear) follow the same troubleshooting logic as Thermador’s other gas cooktops, while the electric radiant elements have their own separate failure modes – a dead element, a stuck control knob, or damage to the glass ceramic surface around the electric zones from improper cleaning.
Key Features
- 36-inch dual-fuel cooktop combining gas burners with electric radiant elements
- Gas burners include ExtraLow-rated burners from roughly 300 to 11,000 BTU/HR
- Glass ceramic surface over the electric-element side
- Combined Care and Use / Installation manual shared with the CD365/CD456 all-electric siblings
- Discontinued design - Thermador's current lineup no longer offers a combined gas/electric cooktop
Most Common Issues on This Model
If you smell gas near the gas-burner side, shut off the gas supply at the shutoff valve first before doing anything else, then inspect that burner independently from the electric side.
Because this cooktop has two separate systems, isolate which side has the problem first - a gas-side ignition issue and an electric-side element failure have completely different causes and fixes.
The electric radiant elements clean themselves when run briefly on HI, per Thermador's guidance for this model - a dull or stained electric zone isn't necessarily a failed element.
