A door that stays locked after a self-clean cycle finishes is one of the most common wall oven service calls we get. Here’s the right way to handle it.
Step 1: Do Not Force the Door
Self-clean cycles reach 800-900°F internally, and the door lock is often engaged deliberately at high temperatures as a safety feature. Forcing it risks a serious burn.
Step 2: Let It Cool Naturally
Wait for the oven to complete its full cooldown cycle. Many lockouts release automatically once internal temperature drops to a safe range.
Step 3: Try a Power Reset
If the door remains locked after cooling, turn off power at the breaker for a few minutes, then restore it.
Step 4: Call for Service
