What E Means
Thermador documents any "E" plus a number on an oven or steam oven display as a general error/error code, with the same instruction across both platforms: stop the beeping, reset, and call support if it returns. It doesn't publish one universal per-number meaning across every oven model.
Common Causes of E
- A control-board problem flagged during a self-check
- A sensor or wiring issue tied to a specific function (bake, broil, convection, or — on steam ovens — the steam system)
- A problem carried over from a power interruption
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press the TIMERS key, or any other key, to stop the beeping alert. Reset the oven. Write down the exact code before resetting in case it returns.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Thermador itself doesn't assign one meaning per number, so working on a specific part without confirming the real cause risks fixing the wrong thing.
- Oven control boards sit near line-voltage wiring, not a reasonable DIY access point.
- Thermador's own guidance is to call support once a reset doesn't clear it, not to keep resetting.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
