What E2060 Means
Hard-water scale has built up inside the heat pump to the point the appliance can measure it. The owner manual for the current generation prints this same problem in its split form, E:20-60, and words the cause as the heating element having become calcified — a maintenance signal rather than a broken part.
Common Causes of E2060
- Mineral deposits laid down over many cycles in a hard-water home
- Descaling put off past the interval the manual suggests
- A water softener setting left too low for the actual hardness of the supply, or the salt left unfilled
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Run a dishwasher descaler through a full hot cycle with the racks empty. If your unit has the built-in water softener, top up the salt reservoir as well and set the hardness to match your supply.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If a descale cycle does not clear the reading, the deposit has gone past what a chemical pass removes and the heat pump needs opening up.
- Scale that keeps returning within weeks usually means the softener side needs setting correctly, which is worth having checked rather than guessed.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
