What ALARM Means
On the older Freedom IF freezer columns (T18IF, T24IF, T30IF series), Thermador's guide says a temperature alarm shows as the set temperature flashing with the ALARM symbol lit. The listed causes are a power failure, a large amount of fresh food, or an appliance problem.
Common Causes of ALARM
- A recent power outage
- A large load of unfrozen food
- A door not closing fully
- A cooling problem inside the column
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press the ALARM button: the tone stops and the highest temperature reached is shown for several seconds. Use that reading to judge the food, keep the door closed, and give the column a few hours to recover.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the alarm returns without an outage or a new load, the column is not holding temperature and needs a technician to check airflow, defrost and the refrigeration system.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
