What Door Alarm Means
An alarm, not a failure. Thermador's French-door guide (T36BT110NS, T36BT120NS, T36IT100NP) says a warning tone sounds and "Door Alarm" appears when a door has been open for a while; the Freedom column guides describe the same alert as a continuous tone, and the older IF freezer columns start it after one minute.
Common Causes of Door Alarm
- A door or freezer drawer left ajar
- A bin, shelf edge or package keeping the door from sealing
- A custom panel or Freedom hinge out of adjustment so the door no longer closes flush
- A failed door switch or sensor reporting "open" when the door is closed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the door fully, or touch "Mute Alarm" on touchscreen models. If it keeps returning with the door shut, look for a drawer or bin that stops the door from closing, a folded gasket, or a door panel that has shifted on its hinge.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A door that will not stay flush after panel installation needs hinge and panel adjustment done with the unit secured in its cutout.
- If the message appears with the door firmly closed, the door switch or its wiring has to be tested at the control board.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
