What E33 Means

Not in Thermador owner literature. Repair references and owner reports agree that E33 on Freedom freezer columns with an ice dispenser relates to the ice dispenser, typically ice lodged in the drop chute so the chute flap (membrane) cannot close.

Common Causes of E33

  • Clumped ice jammed in the drop chute
  • Chute flap unable to close fully
  • Warm air getting in and melting cubes together
  • Dispenser motor or flap mechanism failing

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Empty the ice bin and check the chute for clumped or fused cubes. Let the chute thaw, clear it, and listen for the normal thunk of the flap when you dispense. Keep the freezer door closed so cubes do not partly melt and fuse together again.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • If the chute is clear and E33 still returns, the flap actuator, dispenser motor or ice maker needs testing, which involves removing dispenser panels.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

E33 FAQ

Warm, humid room air entering through a door that is not sealing, or through the chute itself, partly melts cubes that then refreeze as a block.

Not until the chute and flap have been cleared and checked; a blockage is the usual cause reported by owners.
